Comcast subscribers, please take note

Comcast is blocking ALL emails coming from this site. Trying to work with them, but not having much headway. If I could just talk to someone who could find their butt with both hands, maybe I could get somewhere.

In any event, for the duration any email notices coming from this site will NOT get to any Comcast subscribers. If this affects you, perhaps your contacting your own Comcast office may help get someone's notice about this problem.

Odd thing is, I use Comcast myself....

I tried to email someone about an ad recently, and they had a Comcast email address, and I could not get through either. The message I got basically said that my ISP was evil, and that they would have to get down on their knees and plead for me to have the priviledge of emailing them.

I use Comcast, and now I know why I am not getting email notices when I get a PM from someone here on Fauna. I even have Fauna listed as one of the sites to accept scripts and pop-ups from! Grrrrr....

Oh, it gets better. Early AM I found that my own outgoing emails were being blocked by Comcast. This is from my personal PC. I got one ROYAL run-around when I contacted Comcast, and basically was given the bum's rush.

So I am arranging to have DSL installed and to hell with Comcast completely.

Further, I got the following info from my server tech who has been trying to get the server IP blocks lifted by Comcast:

It would probably be a good idea to make all users and contacts aware not to use comcast email addresses.

This goes beyond blacklisting for spam, they are trying this extortion thing on networks where they have to pay some huge sum to be able to send email to comcast. I dont know if thats the situation with you but now thats 3 networks, no wait 4 networks - softlayer, sharktech, staminus, and awknet = all haviung problems with comcast.

Each network told me either about their paid whitelist or they just cant get no answer or resolution at all. I know I have been given the run around since monday. Now Im playing email tag with them

The people at comcast abuse wont even reply to me.

Im trying but the outlook does not look good
From what I understand, Comcast got exclusive contracts for specific areas of the country so they could act as virtual monopolies. But there must be some controlling authority who they are answerable to concerning subscriber complaints. Anyone know who that might be? I'm sure Comcast won't be very forthcoming in providing that sort of information voluntarily.

Any spam posted on this site gets deleted pretty quickly, so I'm not worried about it. Spammers don't use fixed IP addresses, so there's not much that can be done about blocking them at the door.

Well, that didn't work out very well. DSL was installed Monday before last, and by Wednesday, I was disconnecting it. DSL comes with it's own router and it completely destroyed my own existing network of linking printers, backup harddrives, scanner and fax. Not to mention that the business level of DSL (which was the fastest I was able to get) was 3 times SLOWER than Comcast cable modem. I could barely get 5,000 kbps out of the DSL, whereas with Comcast I can normally hit 18,000 kbps for downloads. So that was two real big strikes against DSL......

Now, on the plus side, my server tech guy said that the network this server is on has paid the *ransom* to Comcast and gotten the blocks lifted from their range of IP addresses. So hopefully email notices will now be resumed to Comcast subscribers using this site.

I just found out that that is NOT true. Comcast subscribers are still having emails from this site being blocked by their filters.

That means new registrations, password changes, notifications for PMs and thread replies, everything.

Not sure what the solution is, if any........ Comcast is completely ignoring everyone's questions and comments about their actions.

Rich, I'm not sure how it works in Florida, but here in Arizona, ALL public utility companies (which includes phone, cable TV and internet providers who use hardline facilities located in public right of ways) are answerable to the Corporation Commission. They grant, and regulate, the charters that these companies operate under. Cox and Qwest are the two big high speed internet providers here, and since they're chartered as quasi-public utilities, they are expected to provide service to anyone the same way the publicly owned water and electricity companies are.

Also, Comcast will be regulated at the federal level by the FCC and will have to abide by their regulations as well.

I'd start with the Corporation Commission first, here in AZ they are very responsive to complaints. I remember several years ago, someone had built a custom home in the middle of nowhere, fully understanding that Qwest would not provide service because the home was more than 1/2 mile off any existing line. After they moved in though, they decided they wanted a phone, complained to the Corp Commission, and Qwest was forced to spend the money to trench 6000ft to put in one 25pair cable.

If you've got an equivalent agency in FL, I'd call them first.

I've actually been trying to find out who the regulating authority is for Comcast. But I think there may be a problem with jurisdiction. Heck, I'm not even sure where my server is located right now. Had to do a couple of moves in succession because of the DDoS attack and I lost track. So contacting the authority in Florida may not do me any good if the damages being done are out of their jurisdiction. I've been collecting all the rejected emails that Comcast is throwing out with the thought that I just might have to get an attorney involved. I can most definitely show damages since I have had quite a few people rejected from membership as well as paid member renewal noticies, and people who were trying to change their password and cannot.

Why does crap like this ALWAYS hit during my busy season? Oh, probably because most of the year now seems to BE my busy season....
