What's Driving the Anaconda Prices?

Social media seems to be the new way to drive prices in different directions, but why haven't green anaconda prices come back down to a rational / sane amount?

A few years ago these were $200-$300 a piece and you could get them for less in prior years. The greens are no special morph, no hets, no genetic differences, are readily available; and have large clutches. They spiked in the recent 2 years and just keep going up for no apparent reason. I'm seeing $1600+ now on a green!?

I know if I was breeding them i'd put them back at $300 and just take the profit cut. Why gauge people for an animal that isn't genetically worth more than that.

This feels like the "pet rock" craze in the 70's.

Green anacondas can not be exported you can only purchase in the states which is the reason why the prices went up. Years ago people were exporting them from south america which you can no longer do that.

I think what you mean is that they can not be imported any more. Also they used to not be permitted to be shipped interstate, and then when USARK won against FWS that became legal again so demand immediately went up, hence the price increase.
