100 Year old Male Aldabra

Very rare opportunity to acquire a 100 year old male aldabra tortoise. Based on conversation with family who imported him almost 70 years ago, he is estimated to be 102 and in his prime. He was housed for many years at the Kentucky Reptile Gardens by owner and curator Dick Dooley after being imported as a young adult. He was kept at Evansville, IN Zoo for 25 years and was a local celebrity. He was brought to FL in October, 2010 when the zoo was doing construction and has remained in FL ever since. Kelly has not been with a mature aldabra female in at least 25 years but is eager to mount sub adult Galaps and aldabras that have been kept with him on and off the last 6 years including most recently a 275 lb, 15 year old likely male Galapagos tortoise. Kelly has attempted to mount boulders and a knocked over garbage can as well.

Kelly is 49.5 inches SCL and 33 inches wide- straight length. His last official zoo weight was 470 lbs. He is believed to be north of 500 lbs now.

Kelly would make an excellent display animal and/or breeder and exhibits great mobility and can stand tall fully extending head and limbs. His scutes are perfect except for some minor flaking in 2 spots consistent with most 100 year old tortoise specimens. Kelly has a super friendly disposition and is relaxed and at ease among people.

$40,000 picked up in Jacksonville, FL.

Feel free to contact Delta for shipping quotes. There would be a $500 crate building fee and cargo fees collected at time of pickup from airport. Much more preferred see this animal picked up in trailer.

The only potential trade considered would be for an adult male Galapagos tortoise. Please email direct questions to FLTortoise@comcast.net or text/call 904-534-5953.
