Hi everyone, my name is Keith Marsh. I live in Houghton Lake, Michigan & I am 32 years old, 26 of which I have been a Herp-hobbiest. I am sub-licensed in Herpetological medicine at the local wildlife rehab center where I live. I have kept native & exotic turtles of many species, several species of gecko & some other reptiles & amphibians. My wife & I currently share our home with:
1 adopted adult male Green Iguana (Goji) - FREEROAM
1 adopted adult female African Fat Tail Gecko (Saturn)
1 adult male leopard gecko (Squirt)
1 adopted adult male Russian Tortoise (Tuga) - FREEROAM
1 adopted adult female Red Eared Slider (BT2)
1 hatchling Midland Painted Turtle (Titan)
2 juvenile female Midland Painted Turtles (Emily June Turtle & 1 un-named)
2 adult male Midland Painted Turtles (Sheldon - rehab/rescue & 1 un-named)
1 juvenile Blandings Turtle
5 incubating Midland Painted Turtle eggs
2 small Hermit Crabs
1 adopted adult female half German Sheppard half Siberian Husky
I usually have Tokay Geckos as well, but my last male just passed away after 12 years.
I have always been fascinated with Monitor lizards, Niles in particular, but as a responsible owner & Herpetologist I waited until we had a house of our own and I had enough years of research on the species to take propper care of one before I took the plunge. Last month, I ordered my first baby Nile from UndergroundReptiles.com in Florida and received a beautiful little girl via Fed-Ex a few days later. Unfortunatly she passed away 2 weeks after arrival, from what I can only assume was a mortality rate issue. She was healthy, friendly, happy, active and eating well. Even though I had only had her a little over a week, it was like a 26 year dreeam come true and I was heart-broken with the loss. I've spent alot of time looking for a replacement only to come up empty. I'm really looking for a sub-adult, not a hatchling, but I would adopt any Nile, or any reptile at all for that matter because I have a huge heart for all things reptile & amphibian. I am 100% willing to do any necessary adoption screening and pay reasonable addoption fees. If anyone is aware of any Nile Monitors that need a home, PLEASE help me fill the hole in my heart and in our family by letting me know.
