Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. I have no idea so i have been lately just buying the expensive fixtures from the reptile store. There are many florecent T-8 and T-5 at lowes and then today i was looking and Zilla Desert Series 50 18" UVB Bulb uses a T-8 bulb. Do florescent bulbs lie this give off UVB?
Regular T-8s and T-5s (as well as T-10s) that you would find at Lowes', walmart, or any other supply store do not give off UVB radiation. IN fact, there has been some studies that using these bulbs long term can give lizards snow-blindness.
Bulbs that are specifically made for herps are coated with Neodyium phosphorus, and helps curbs the over-brightness.
