If you're confidant in explaining how you have complete control over your reptiles' enclosures and all the things that go with them, your landlord will (hopefully) be more open to the idea.
If you do have issues, offer to take out renter's insurance to cover any damages that could be caused by a heating element being knocked over or some such. Our landlady was leery of our collection until we offered to take out renter's insurance, then
followed through and provided the paperwork. It was a nice gesture that reassured her that we are aware of the potential problems that could be caused and were willing to take responsibility of them.
