Mean Juvenile Iguana

What is the best method to tame these guys? We bought him last Friday, and left him alone for a few days, so he could settle in. But he won't let anyone touch him now. He puffs his chest & neck up, and swats us with his tail, or he just gos nuts, and starts running/thrashing around the tank.

We don't force trying to touch/pick him up. We don't want him to hurt himself with the thrashing.

Any ideas on how to tame him would be very appreciated! Thank you.

I had an iguana for 8 years, he was like my little scalley puppy lol. I got him to walk on a leash, chill on the window sill or the back of my comp chair and watch tv.

Long story short, the way I tamed him was I got him young, and held him for atleast 15 minutes aday. That way he got so tame he didnt even need his cage, I allowed him to roam my room while I was there. Dont be afraid if he bites, it doesnt hurt that much. Another thing I've noticed was its good to get one of the oposite gender if its your you. For example I got a male and he was very attatched to me, but hated my dad lol.

We hold our boy as much as possible, even then he seems to like me a lot more than anyone else in the house, I think its because I feed him? who knows. But he is very tame & friendly. Just hold yours as much as possible. I hold austin in mornings, and about a hour before his bed time - his lights go out at 9pm =-)
