Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Tortoise Seed for enclosure
Hey all,
So I have a Gpp Leopard youngster that'll be turning a year old this month. I have him in a 40gal breeder tank and was hoping to plant some grass seed in there for him to graze on. He is such a pig so I feel bad when he is wondering around looking hungry. I have been feeding him spring mix and Mazzuri which he loves.
I've seen "Sulcata Seed" advertised before but I am wondering if it would be good for a leopard? Also, do I need to grow it in pots first and then plant into the tank or can I simply plant the seeds in his tank?
He is growing like a weed but I won't be able to do an outdoor enclosure until I move into a house in December (which by then it'll be cold) so he will have to wait until next summer before he can stay outside all the time. Until then, I'd like to get him used to grazing from his own "yard".
Any advice would be appreciated!

Indoors or outdoors, you're better off growing it outside the enclosure. Tortoises can (and will) dig and trample over any plant in their way, and have no regard for tiny seedlings. I keep Egyptians in an outdoor enclosure during warm months, which is totally covered in weeds when they go in each spring. It takes about 2 weeks to be thread bare, and these guys are only a few inches long. They love to eat the weeds, but most just get stomped down. I do plant a lettuce garden (not in the enclosure) from seed, which feeds them well until first frost.

I'll be moving into a house with a friend of mine who has a massive yard, but for now I keep him in a 40gal in my apartment. He's still about 5 inches long so he's not too big yet. I can grow some things out on the balcony if necessary. He hasn't shown much interest in digging yet but that doesn't mean he won't start lol.

I agree with Rcarichter. Planting the food source outside of the enclosure will ensure the plant will be able to grow without the tortoises killing it off. You can go as simply as a couple potted plants near your kitchen window, and pick from them as they grow. Dont get me wrong, you can plant seeds in the enclosure, they will sprout but the tortoises will eat them very fast. If your looking for a nice selection of edible seeds for your tortoises check out our website www.arizonatortoisecompound.com The more variety of food options your able to provide for your tortoise the better.
