I never said all the fields should be empty..... but at what cost do we give up what little privacy we do have here.

Lets say age is mandatory.... then what. you want to make sure folks have a CC so you know they are 18. How about my blood type... or my fingerprints.

Where does it stop?

By making all this info public to everyone is only gonna turn folks off to Fauna. WE should have the option of disclosing our personal information to who we want to have it.

Thats exactly the reason why I'm confident that Rich will NOT disable the "hide age" feature. Because everyone here DOES have the option of disclosing their information (by abiding by this policy & remaining on FC, they are exercising that option). Everything entered within your profile field was done so with your fingertips.

Upon registration, that "hide b-day" option was available. Had it not been, then perhaps some would have reconsidered being members here. I doubt Rich would pull the rug out from under them by displaying their information (which they believed would be kept private), to the public.

Regarding any new mandatory policies........Rich may ask you to take off your shoes while entering his home...he will not, however, pull them off your feet. You have the option of turning around and walking away. I'm not being condescending (I for one would not want to see you go) but the fact is, there will always be backlash when new ideas are implemented.

Something else to consider. Fauna is almost a one stop shopping spree for ID theft.

IF you have the full name, birthdate, location... all you need is the SSN... and now your a victim.
