Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

General BS forum I guess anything is fair game in here. Just watch the subject matter doesn't get carried away too much. |

Dinner
Fast food or home made, what do you eat?

Home made. I cook a LOT on the weekends, especially meat, and then use the cooked meat all week in other recipes.
Suppose I make chili on the weekend. I'll cook up enough ground beef or venison to use as the base for other meals later in the week, plus there will be enough leftover chili available for at least another meal.
If I roast a turkey we'll have that for a few days, then I'll pick the carcass and freeze the meat for later use.
On the rare occasions we eat out, it's either Chinese, Indian, or Arby's (because their reubens are awesome).

As an over the road businessman, I eat lots of fast food. It's not as exciting as it sounds.
Often, though, I get grocery store deli stuff, if I have time.
At home, I eat restaurant food as seldom as possible.

I cook. I spent 11 years being head cook for a restaurant and I cannot waste my skills.
Unfortunately, my kids like their food bland, so no cool sauces unless I make it on the side. Darn kids!

You have a lucky family to have the benefit of all that experience!
Try this: Buy a special small covered serving dish. Metal or plastic, you don't wan't to worry about china. Get a big colorful ladle. Put the cool sauce in it and place it near you at the table. Tell your kids it's sauce 'for the grownups'. I'm thinking they are going to want to try, it is human nature to want what you can't have.

I eat mostly home made, make a big batch and freeze or can portions. A fairly new exception is pizza. I used to make my own, and I still make French bread pizza, but my local Dominos makes a Brooklyn style bacon and mushroom that is better than mine.

Thank you Lucille. From all the picky/allergic customers, I've gotten pretty good at "on the side". One bland chicken and brown rice for you, and one Creamy Chicken Risotto for me.

The last year or so wife and I have been getting take out way too much. We need to get back into home cooking. I usually try to make one special meal a week though and the ones I like a lot I post in the What's Cooking forum here.

I eat way too much takeout, but I keep it super varied. Tonight I had Mexican, green corn soup with tomatillos. I like to eat food from all over the world, and so I'm glad to live in an urban area and have lots of choices.
