Fla. Man Gets Jail For Stealing Sea Turtles

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A Riviera Beach man will spend a year behind bars for stealing sea turtle eggs from a Singer Island beach.

Kenneth Coleman pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony possession of marine turtle eggs.

Authorities said they stopped Coleman in July when he was spotted riding a bicycle without a light at 1:30 a.m.

Palm Beach Shores police said Coleman dropped a duffel bag filled with 142 sea turtle eggs and took off.

The eggs are illegal to possess because of sea turtles' status on both the endangered and threatened species lists.

That is sooooo sad.

What I want to know is what he was going to do with them....Maybe he was going to help them grow then release them into the wild, yeah I know, fat chance.
