Question Humidity??

I have searched and read books and looked at a zillion sites with care sheets etc. I can NOT find what percentage humidity my Blue Tongue Skink needs.I have read "requires high humidity" or "requires humid hide" but no absolute info.
ANY help is greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance.

*Also,if there is any other info you have learned please share *

I don't know about Blue Tongues, but if you're desperate for info, I keep my Corucia at at *least* 65% relative humidity (preferably higher -- 85% to 95% is good, but very hard to maintain in an enclosure that isn't 100% glass). You can buy inexpensive little humidity gages at pet stores or hardware stores.

To keep humidity up for my Corucia, I use damp sphagnum moss as a substrate, have a drip bottle on top of each enclosure which I fill once a day, and run a vaporizer continuously in their room. (You can use a mister or humidifier if you prefer).

To keep hide boxes humid, I've heard of people gluing a sponge inside the top of a plastic hide box, and keeping that moist. (But I don't do that myself).

Hope that helps!

I've bred different subspecies of Tiliqua for years. The humidity varies depnding on locality. For instance, an Irian or Indonesian blue tongue is going to need humidities similar to the requirements of any rainforest species (60-90%), whereas a northern or eastern bluetongue will thrive in the 40% range, and central and western blue tongues can tolerate well below that. However, all of them adapt well to captive conditions. Best guess is to keep them on cypress mulch (no need to buy the expensive pet store brands - go to Lowe's and get a giant bag for two dollars, just remember to bake it and let it cool) and mist lightly two to three times daily.
