Greek Tortoise Needs Some Work
I took in a "box turtle" that was brought into my work as the people essentially didn't want it anymore because it was a boring pet. As it turns out, it's a Greek tortoise, I'm guessing about 10 years old based on the sketchy history I got. He has been improperly fed (carrots and green leaf lettuce only) for years. I have had him for about 4 months. He isn't terribly active in his house but does run around if I bring him outside. He's been dewormed and I have been working on his beak but am at the point now where I'm not sure if it needs more filing or not. Surprisingly, he bones and shell are in pretty good shape. No evidence of MBD and no pyramiding.
The tortoise experienced home he was going to this spring fell through, so I am looking to send him on to experienced tortoise people who can work with him and give him the environment and stimulation he needs. I primarily work with snakes and simply do not have the time or interest in keeping this guy. I'd love him to go to someone who will appreciate him.
I would prefer pick up/meeting in my area of Mass. I'd rather not ship because as I said he brumated all winter and is still sluggish.
Let me know if anyone is interested. PM works fine and then if we decide it's a good match we can make a plan for him. he has a 40 gallon breeder (not ideal I know. It came with him) and various paraphernalia. No UVB lights sadly, as I actually stole those from my planted fish tank and they need to go back on. But a ceramic heat emitter, basking light, fixtures, etc. you can take all or none of this stuff for no additional fee.
Thanks!
