Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

EDIT: Oustaleti aren't terribly hard to keep so long as you do your research.

I was actually out looking at my cages and realized that I could just put it on the top... which is good since the stuff is not cheap (100 feet = $150)
Yeah, I was actually looking at the Faly/Tamataves a a cross breeding project. I have not seen many crosses and I really like the coloration on the two. Lookin for a Faly with the white face and the color splotches running across the body like paint splatters
( like this : http://www.trinitychameleons.com/sit...G.w300h225.jpg)
mixed with a female Tamatave wth a deep red Sire
(Like this: http://www.lostlakechameleons.com/images/tomcruz.jpg)
I think they could turn out pretty spectacular.
As for the Oustaleti, I am still interested and looking around at various breeders. It seems many of them are WC's and I would feel bad taking an animal that had the good life in the jungle before living in my box. I am still looking though, as there really aren't many vendors. I check KS and FC pretty much daily, as well as about 7 sites (Scream/Prism/Kammerflage/Fl/LLL/etc).
Luckily, I have Reptile Specialist down in Tucson, they are a very large herp store and I am gonna make a trip down there to see if they could find any with their connections. If I could get Oustalets that would be my top pick. They seem to have a reputation of being pretty friendly... a "gentle giant" if you will.
So how long have you been working with Chams?

The only problem with cross breeding the locales is you may have to kill the females. Not much of a market for mutt girls... Thats one of the reasons why I wouldn't want to cross any. You get amazing males (sometimes) but then you're stuck with the females... Plus no name breeders (or at least not well established breeders) don't sell cross' very easily so it's hard to sell males as well. I think maybe you should stick to pure babies until you build a reputation, you know?

well, as I said, I am not looking to become an established breeder. I would be content seeing them go to good homes for free. I am approaching this more as a hobby than anything. I don't see the reptile trade a very lucrative industry unless one is doing commercial farming, which is ethically wrong.
I make my money in realms far outside of animals. The only trick would be finding enough responsible people to take the babies, though I am sure forums would help with that
Then again if I go oustaleti they wont be a cross, if I can even get them to breed...
Anyways, there would be no killing of anything, at least if I had any power over it. Not for profit, only for pleasure.

Ahh, but free chameleons kills the market. That's no good if you're only in it for fun I'd just suggest pure breeding then popping some of the eggs if it's a large clutch. I only wanna raise up about ten so I'm not over whelmed. Plus you need to be home to feed the babies multiple times and mist them all the time. I don't think I could take care of 30-40!

well, regardless of which way it goes it is a long way off. I typically don't plan that far into the future anyways. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?
But yes, I doubt I will ever get over 6 or 7 personal chameleons. I do not think I could give them all the time they deserve in regards to attention to health and details if I had more than that.
I suppose giving away free babies does hurt the breeders who are doing it for business though, which is not really a positive. Weellll, if I do purebreed panthers it will be the Falys. Though, as I said earlier, I would prefer Oustalets and eventually Parsons (I will get there one day, just a matter of time)
If I could get Parsons breeding then I could start to see it as a business, until then I dunno.

The faly's fetch for quite a bit (compared to other locales) so perhaps it can be an every now and then make a few bucks kind of thing.

Yeah, they certainly are not easy to find though.... Have you ever been to a large reptile show? There is a big expo in LA coming up. Do they have really good selections there?

There are going to be a lot of chameleon people at the Pomona show. Check out the thread on the Pomona show in the lizard lounge section of chameleonforums.com Socal and Florida have the most chameleon people as far as I can tell.
