This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Enclosure heating
I have this great idea to build a 4x2x2 home for my snake with shelves under it. Total about 6 feet in height. I am just wondering how i could use flexwatt or anything else to heat it. If i use 3/4 material how will anything ever heat it and still be safe?
also air holes but im thinking 1/4 maybe 3/8" holes on the cool side to get the gradient.

well there are a few ways you can go and heat it with flex you can put it under the floor and even with 3/4 it will still heat or you can also put it in the enclosure and put a piece of glass or peg board over just make sure you seal it real good so water wouldnt get in ..i prefer under the enclosure its safest in my mind now with air holes i have tried a couple doffrent ways ,one i used a 1 inch or so hole drill bit thingy and made a few holes then covered it with a soffet vent ..seems to work fine ,i have them located an diffrent spots to see what works and i cant seem to tell the diffrents with location so most i have in the back on both sides that because i have stacks next to eachother ..if you can put them on the sides i recommend puttinf one low and one high .put the lower one on the hot side and the higher one on the cool side .my thinking is as air enters the hot side will warm up abit then exit the cool ..not sure how true it is but i sleep better ..lol..another way for venting which i have tried and like alot ..cleaner look in the enclosure is i actually keep a gap around the door that way you have no holes in the enclosure but still has air flow well i hope this helps good luck with your build

Bill (of Bill and Amy) just made a really neat new enclosure for his new boas, and "sandwiched" the Flexwatt between ceramic tiles on top of the bottom of the enclosure. It looks really nice, and the tiles hold the heat very well.
I think he had a thread about it on here, I don't recall how detailed it was.....but I'm sure he could explain to you just how he did it.

man flexwatt must get HOT! if it can heat the tank through the 3/4" stuff. Drilling the holes makes more sense to get air to flow from the bottom to the top. Might have to make them smaller then 1" though, snake is still 2' so it could fit through them. I'll have to find Bill and see if he has the buildup on here, maybe its in a different section cuz i normally keep an eye out for that kind of stuff.

Here is the thread with pics of my boa cages.
http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...ad.php?t=80489
I just purchased cheap 12" x 12" ceramic tile at the local home improvement store (50 cents a piece x 4). I then drilled 2 holes at the back of the cage to feed wires through and mounted 2 of the tiles to the cage bottom with silicone caulk. After that was setup I fed the flexwatt wires through the holes and placed it on top of the tiles (held in place with small pieces of aluminum tape). I then placed caulk around the outside of the tile and set the next 2 tiles on top and finsihed caulking around the tiles to seal it from urates or spilled water. I then put the heat probe taped to the center of one of the tiles to control the temps. It works great, tiles help retain heat also.

No screened areas, there is pegboard on the back and a small section of pegboard in the door for air circulation. This is inside a dedicated snake room.
