I also set up for the show.... i still like the place ... i will still go ... i do ok there, actually about the same as i did at the super expo the week before with 4 times the amount of traffic .In all honesty i have made money every time, some guys do ...some dont...its like that at every venue every where. its the luck of the draw i guess.

the show is a weird one ... i think it will grow, if it continues .. and gets more support from vendors etc... it always has a nice mellow vibe and has everything most people complain about wanting in a venue .... haha less vendors and traffic.

also Chad ,Eric and butch are cool guys to work with very straight up ...they seem to want to make it a great show.. that helps.

Ok, I've been sick the last few days so i may be a bit moody, but some of you are just plain ignorant. Why would you come on here after not going to a show just to proclaim it is not worth your time? It's really rude and inconsiderate of the time that the promoter and the vendors who actually LIKE the show put in.

What is wrong with a smaller show where you actually get a chance to talk to potential customers/vendors? What's wrong with a smaller show where you don't have 120+ vendors trying to undercut each others prices and talk bad about other vendors to keep customers at their table?

Wow, a reptile show where you actually get to talk reptiles and have fun.....

Honestly, for some of us it's really not about the money. Some of us actually like the smaller local shows where we can have a fun day out. It's cheaper than a baseball game, and a lot funner if you ask me. If it was just about selling my surplus offspring I would wholesale them and skip shows entirely.

I don't vend this show because it is a longer drive than I make to do shows. I like to keep my drive time under 2 hours because I like to sleep. But if it was a more local show I would vend and/or attend regular. Support your local shows that are run clean and professional. If not they might not be here next year.

WOW, Matt, I may at one time not have agreed with something you have said in the past, BUT you definitely hit it right on the money with this one in my opinion. I agree with you 100%.

I do vend, and of course it is nice to make some sales and some money, to atleast cover your expenses and maybe feed your animals, But as Jamie above has mentioned, its the luck of the draw, you win some and you lose some.

It cant always be about the money, if I didnt like it I wouldnt do it.

i agree with you matt I hope this show can get back on its feet because the location is very clean and it is a good place to have a venue like this so it hopefully can get back up and running with success. The size makes it more enjoyable whether or not you sell things but it makes it easier as a person that is gonna try to breed animals and learn how to do those things a smaller show is much better. I stood around after looking at the vendors animals and talked to Joe and Genna to learn how to become a successful breeder. I like the show so keep it going.

I kept out of this one because I don't vend at shows. BUT... I did read some of the postings with a sad heart..and Thank you for pointing out the joy that should have been present!

Expos

Hi all,
We are new to the reptile world having purchased our first corn snake in January. We live in Stephens City, VA and are interested in attending expos to increase our corn snake collection and supplies as we may plan to breed in a year or so. Since the expos are at least one hour (being the Manassas, VA show) and 2+ for all the others...can someone tell me which shows will be worth the drive for corns? And which shows we should avoid?
Thanks!
Also, anyone else on here in our area?

I would try my luck with any of the Pa shows for corns, The Carlisle show is just up 81 north for you, while it is a small show it is far more worth the extra drive time and has alot more to offer then attending the Manassas show.

Plus, it is only $5.00 admission fee! Has good food too!
