Here is some important information about the Ecuadorian milksnakes in the US.

In the US, L. t. micropholis are of Popayan, Colombian locality. It's suspected that the micropholis found in the hobby come from in or near such an intergrade zone. This line is a naturally occuring intergrade between L. t. micropholis and L. t. andesiana, and siblings possess phenotypic and/or meristic characteristics that are intermediate between the two subspecies.

The 2004 and 2006-parents to this pair were obtained from Bill Lamoreaux in 2009. At that time the pair was Bill's future breeders since they have the best pattern available. Bill at that time had the original adults that came from Nathan Wells. Nathan Wells produced a limited number of offsprings from 2004 to 2006.

In 2014, a recent revision of the Milk Snake’s taxonomy was published in Systemic Biology (Syst Biol (2014) 63 (2): 231-250). The paper proposes to create 7 distinct species from the current 24 subspecies of Lampropeltis triangulum.

Ecuadorean Milk Snake, Lampropeltis micropholis
Former subspecies included:
Black Milk Snake, L. t. gigeae
Andean Milk Snake, L. t. andesiana
Range: Eastern Costa Rica and Panama to
Ecuador; may also occur in Venezuela and Columbia.

Here is a great opportunity to acquire an impressively large and unusual Colombian milk snake that rarely hits the reptile market. This milk snake display nice shade/bands of color and pattern (pronounced snout rings and broken up speckled noses).

Feel free to contact me with any questions (legacyreptiles@gmail.com).

Thanks for looking!

Wow this is rare!!! I was told they didn't exist. What size are they? What size are the parents? In which state are you located?

Daniel,
As I stated above the L.t micropholis in the hobby are intergrades. They are probably the closest to a micropholis. There is NO TRUE LEGIT/PURE L.t. micropholis in the US. However, with the new classification from the 2014 paper L. t micropholis is used to include other subspecies eg., L.t. gaigeae and L.t. andesiana. Take care!

So they do not get the as large as gaigeae. I read that micropholis is the largest of the milks.
