Classified rant

I have been looking around for some large enclosures and have checked around online to various classified sites to see if anyone is selling any used large Vision cages, because buying several new ones at one time is very expensive.

The ads I inquired into were fairly new. Out of 5 emails I sent, only one person had the decency to answer.

If you are selling an item, please respond to inquiries. The four who did not respond to my questions, I can't figure out if:

The item was already sold
Someone else was making a better offer
My reputation preceded me and they were shy about dealing with a celebrity

Please, if you get inquiries, respond. If the item is sold, try to note that fact on the ad, but respond to questions anyway, it is common courtesy.

OK, I'm stepping off my soapbox now.......

That is the kind of thing that just irks my chicken too!! As a seller I've put up with that same kind of behavior......like when is an item sold?? I would receive an email and an offer only to wait for a conformation that never happens.

My time is valuable and I don't have time to wade thru unnecessary, or unwanted emails. Sorry to hear that sellers don't want your money, there loss, better and less expensive will come your way!!

Last November I started looking for some albino Nelson's and other snakes but I really wanted to buy an albino Nelson's and maybe some hets for a friend for Christmas. I emailed every person who had these snakes listed on their website as available. Only ONE person bothered to respond to my emails and I bought 1.0 albino and 0.2 hets from him. Maybe those others were out of Nelson's but I did inquire about other snakes too. Heck maybe they were out of all of the snakes I was interested in. Who knows? I don't because they didn't bother to respond.

On the other hand I can see the "other side" of the story where many sellers get innundated with people who are only looking or are "picture collectors", etc. and get burned out answering a ton of nonbuyer's emails. I have inquired about snakes and then didn't buy them for whatever reason too. So I can understand why people sometimes will not respond. But it is annoying to say the least.

I've been pissed off many a time by the same darn thing Lucille, and I don't blame you for wanting to rant about it. I mean, DO YOU WANT TO SELL SOMETHING OR NOT?!? Besides, it's only polite if they took 60 seconds to respond saying that the item is no longer available. THEN, I might consider contacting that same person again should they advertise something else I'm interested in further on down the road. But hey, if they're going to ignore me once, then the heck with 'em.

Yeah there is a guy on the KS classifieds selling his holdback albino giant leopard geckos. I was really interested in purchasing his animals, and tried emailing him twice. Not one response back. Obviously they are not sold as they were reposted several times on different dates. So to heck with him.

While I agree with all of you as to the rudeness of not bothering to return a message, remember that some people have odd spam filters that may block out emails...so, getting to someone on the dedicated phone line is the way to go sometimes.

well unless you havent noticed editing and deleting ads does not seem to work..... atleast it was that way the last few times I have tried.......

That is an excellent point, although it is odd to think that someone would post stuff for sale and not think to unblock so they could receive replies.
In any case, I am over my rant: I found some Vision cages and am no longer worried about replies.

That is the way women are anyway, we rant and get it out of our system, it is the way we stay so sweet and appealling (like me)
