Kind of interesting to note that we are now virtually INVADED with baby spadefoot toads. There are so many of them we have to walk in slow motion so we don't step on them when walking between buildings. Never seen this before around here. It's not just local here at our place as one of our workers says he sees zillions of them around his work place as well. Not sure how many of them will survive, though, since we are going through a dry spell and it's possible many will dehydrate quickly.

This is the first year our frog and toad population has been anything at all to speak of, although not near what anyone would call "normal".

We had at least ten specimens of either kind of grey treefrog that came to our lights every night. (There are two types of grey treefrog in my area and they look identical, just their calls are different) At least twenty peepers and one HUGE green tree frog I can't identify that hangs out by our front porch light.

I watch and record who shows up every night (just for pesonal info) so they've gotten used to me. Don't know who has more fun watching who! I still have one that refuses to leave and if he doesn't hibernate soon I'm bringing him in to brumate in my basement. He's the only one left that keeps coming around and it's getting cold at night!

There were literally hundreds of baby toads in our shed. My Hubby is so sweet, he'd take a broom out with him and sweep them into a corner so he wouldn't run them over with his motorcycle.

This is the first year the wetland across the street has had anything but dirt in it, so hopefully this bodes well for the future.
