Injured western fence lizard

Dos anyone have tips on how to disinfect a cat wound?

A betadine or Iodine solution would be good to disenfect the area and keep clean, otherwise i would use dawn dish soap and warm water, im assuming the wounds are only superficial and are not puncture wounds.

Thank you for replying. Sadly, the poor animal has already passed.

I figured since he was a wild lizard I'd pour water over the tail to help flush it and then let him go when the wound was a little better.

The wound was around 3 cm long tear in his skin, you could see around 3 sq cm of his exposed muscle.

I think the bacteria in the cat's claws might have infected the lizard, and the stress of being in a small cage (me trying to contain him for him to heal) probably helped speed up his death.
