Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Adult Gilas
I just picked these four adults up from Jim Peiffer in PA. I'm going to need to find a better way to secure their water bowls. Maybe PVC pipe couplers?
The first pair are from Joe Lewis (Rare Earth) from 1998.
The female:
The male:
The second pair are 2000's from Mark Seward.

Those are beautiful, you definitely have a great set there. The first time I saw Gila's in person was at Applegate Reptiles. They always look better in person. Good luck with your breeding.

I wear thick gloves when I handle them. They do not have fangs or any means of injecting venom like venomous snakes do.

The Discovery channel had me fooled. They made it seem like they could bite through anything and that one bite meant certain death.

That is the discovery channel for you. I spent time talking with Mark O'Shea, with the stories he told about discovery, you would understand their way of thinking, according to them the beaded lizard is a bearded dragon(he was not joking), if it is not incredibly dangerous than it is not that interesting so hype it up and make it fearsome.

If a healthy person gets a good bite from a Gila Monster or from a Beaded Lizard the might wish they were dead for a while, but likely will not die.
On another note, anyone ever see that movie about the giant Gila Monster? They used a Beaded Lizard.

I didn't see that one, but I did see the Disney movie "Holes". There were deadly desert lizards that attacked people. Fortunately, if you ate the onions that grew in the mountains, the dangerous lizards avoided you. The lizards were just bearded dragons. Disney... sheesh.
Very nice animals Jim! I just saw my first Gila in person at the show yesterday.

Here's the picture of the "star" of "Giant Gila Monster" which you can see is a Beaded Lizard.
