My first ASF colony

I just got my first ASFs (African Soft Furred Rat). They are super cute, super soft and these four are very hand tame and friendly (although that might change when they start breeding, the large female is preggers right now.

I have three Amber pied, and one Agouti Pied.

yes, it will change once they start breeding. i was making 300-400 a month off of 6 1.2 groups. i had to actually feed off the breeders to allow time to feed off all their offspring before breeding again..

Wow, that seems like a lot, Bradley! Is that normal for house mice as well, or are ASFs simply super producers?

I know for a fact that ASF are high producers, some can have 20+ per litter!

i'm not sure on that. the only thing i've bred are ASFs. they are super producers. my average litter size was 10-15... sometimes the older breeders giving less than that. in my experience with them... once one of the females drop... the other one drops close to that time and before the first batch were completely weaned... the same female drops again. it seems like they'll have a litter about every 15-25 days.
