Just for the record, nowhere in the rules for posting messages in the BOI does it say anything at all about a thread having to continue in the direction led by the first message in the thread.  In other words, a GOOD GUY message starting off a topic thread does not mean that the entire thread has to remain that way.  Nor is a topic's initial beginning message stating a person is a BAD GUY, keep the entire thread off limits for anyone whom disagrees.

Each topic thread should be limited to one SUBJECT (defined as a person or business), but once started it is now a discussion area for the subject of the thread.  The purpose of having it this way is for the bulk of the evidence presented by multiple people to be the deciding factor on how someone reading the thread will judge the merits of the ENTIRE discussion about the subject.  This was also intended to try to keep ALL information about a subject in one place on this forum.

I hope I have clarified this (it is LATE, so my keyboard skills may be suffering right now).  If anyone has any questions about this, please contact me offline and I'll try to do better in an email to you.

As I thought about it for awhile, I was all set to MAYBE agree with you and stop trying to tell people how the site works....UNTIL our Lord and Master chimed in with the fact that I'm not doing ANYTHING wrong!! All I'm really trying to do, in any case, is get folks to follow the rules???

Jason - the messages I am considering deleting are the ones that are about the discussions concerning people's favorite sports teams, etc, that certainly no one could defend as being relevant to the subject matter of this thread, much less having any earthly relationship to this entire site.

Bill's comments, however, were BY the subject and certainly are relevant to the discussion based on the content as well as the tone of the messages. &nbsp;If Bill were to post a message saying that a certain sports team is composed of a bunch of fools, then you would be correct in your assessment. &nbsp;I fail to see how anyone could not reasonably recognize the difference.
