Yesterday the hamster items arrived in the mail, all sorts of wheels and colorful tubes and 3 houses and 2 hamster lookout towers (I do not know what a hamster would be looking for, so far my hamsters have been transporting food up there, sort of like kids in a treehouse, and then eating it).
Because one of the little varmints has already escaped twice, we decided to build their little palace inside an acrylic enclosure so if a tube got loose they would not run off, eat up the electric lines, and fry themselves and burn the house down (I'm a worrier, can you tell?)
So my son and I built it, we had to take apart the acrylic enclosure and rebuild it around the hamster town. We finally got done and I set the enclosure on my desk, meaning to move stuff today and set it where I wanted it.
Last night, the dam hamsters managed to find the long narrow spaces in the acrylic enclosure, noticed that my nice Pottery Barn Everydaysuede drapes were touching the spaces, and neatly nibbled holes in my beautiful drapes.
So far, between their hamster town and the drapes, which will have to be replaced, two dam hamsters have cost me about $250.00.........
