Jugular Waving...

I searched the threads and did not see this anywhere so I am asking. Has anyone seen jugular waving in dragons and what does it mean. My male did it a few times before I got my female and now Cera is doing it as well but only when my son goes up to the cage. Thanks.

Are you talking about waving their little front arms in sort of a circular motion?

If you are, there are several things that it means...sort of one beardie greeting another, or a sign of submission, or if one beardie sees another waving, it'll wave back.

No they wave their throats. Not puff them out and make them turn black, but do a waving thing. I have searched long and hard, and feel like an idiot for asking this because I am not even sure how to describe it other then a "wave", but for a year now this has driven me nuts. Its almost like a crowd at a ball game wave. They pulse their throats in an up and down motion. Its crazy looking.

I've seen mine puff their beard out when they're trying to break a shed, but I still don't have a clue what you mean. Hopefully someone else around here has some ideas.

If I can get a vid of it and post it I will. Personally I think its funny looking, and my lil Cera likes to make you laugh so I think she may do it just to get my son to laugh at her, but it has to have a meaning. Thanks again.

I know exactly what you are talking about Raven. I've noticed it too. Its mostly our 7 mo old male and one of our 9 wk old babies that have been doing this. The baby also gapes his/her mouth open a little before or afterward. It really is too cute and I'd love to know what it means too.

Thank god i thought my dragons were the only ones doing it. Atleast I know Im not crazy.

Well I can't vouch for that part but mine do it too!!

Do let me know if you find an answer. I reminds me of someone that is really thirty drinking a huge glass of water.....the way the throat ripples like big gulps. Now you got me going to try to get a video of it!

My dragon PintSize will do it towards my fiancee. I always just took it as him "flexing" his domanace, trying to ward him off. Fiancee says it looks like he is trying to start a fight. PintSize thinks he owns me and doesnt like other guys comeing around me. I think it is funny I think they do it cause they get bored too
