A C.z.z Girl for Lisa???

This three year old is a possible female and, like Lisa said in the previous post, is a possible candidate for her solo male. So we are looking for some opinions about sex. Let us know what you think, male or female. This is the best top down shot I could get. Enjoy!

There is no definitive way to tell from the picture, but going by the shape of the head, I'd say female. Size/Weight/Age would be helpful indicators.

My guess is also female, but it is just a guess. From the picture, it has the larger lower body that females tend to have, but it could be the angle. The neck also looks reasonably chunky behind the head, another female trait I think.

We have a skink that we now think is male (originally believed to be female, as it was housed with another quite "male" male), based on several observations, but one was the way it reacted to another verified male; they were allowed minimal interaction through mesh, and the result was plenty of aggression. Although males and females can all fight each other with relative lack of abandon it seems, this was the final thing that convinced us that what we had was *probably* another male.

Hey Kisha! I was wondering if a way to test to see if your Czz is female would be to put her with a confirmed male and see if he tried to mate with her... is this a viable way to attempt to sex a PTS?

Kishas probably already aware of this, but there is a real chance of some serious aggression if the skink turns out to be male as well; thats why we only let them interact through mesh on their first meeting. To be honest though, it was quite clear that they werent going to get along just by doing that! Also, they may just decide they dont like each other and start fighting anyway! Its a tricky one.

This one is still a bit young for that type of interaction. She is currently with the parents and another sibling with no problems. This is partly why I thought she would be a good candidate for Lisa's male. There is less aggression towards juveniles. At three years old there is still some time before she would be sexually mature. I thought that an older male may be more inclined to accept a younger cagemate. Any mistake in sexing would become evident as the animal matures. The only trouble I ever had introducing new skinks to each other was when I was still not very good with sexing and tried to introduce 2 males. It was VERY clear that they did not get along. Since then the male/female combos that I have tried have been successfull. So this is kind of a new idea that I'm interested in trying out.
