What happened with Hong Kongensis? Those used to be $7 to $10 about 10 years ago and wholesalers had them by the hundreds. Were they collected from the wild to the point of near extinction?

Those were mass WC-imports from Asia. They stopped allowing imports some years ago. Very few newt breeders work with breeding Paramesotriton sp. in the US. They, and the never-bred Pachytriton sp. are going to disappear from the US hobby.

Actually there are plenty working with paramesotriton and there have been pachytriton breed in the usa it was done last year towards the end of the year by a breeder from Wisconsin
