NYS Animal Sales laws

Can someone help to clairfy this for me? I was just looking at the application to obtain a license to sell animals in NYS. However, I'm a little confused. The only animals mentioned are dogs and cats. On the NYS.gov mentions that you only have to get a license if you sell 25 or more animals per year. I'm getting a tabke at the WNY Reptile Show in September 2006 and wanted to bring a few of my leo hatchlings to sell along with my store's items. I just want to make sure I get all the paperwork done ahead of time.

As a vendor, you are required to collect sales tax. You will likely be required to show your Certificate of Authority (I always was at any NYS show I did). This is the application. http://www.tax.state.ny.us/pdf/2004/st/dtf17_804.pdf. If you have not already done so, you should file a DBA (doing business as) to register your name.

Got all that. Just thought maybe there was a special animal selling license. I can't seem to find any other info besides for cats and dogs.

As of now, as long as you are selling just reptiles, no license other than sales tax needed on a STATE level in NY. NY does restrict sales of large pythons, monitors, crocodilians, etc. Many NY counties do require permits from the county health dept., though if you are a small home breeder and don't upset your neighbors it probably is not necessary. For shows, the organizer should have a county permit to cover the whole show-this is what we do in White Plains.

Ok, thanks! I should have everything covered then. This is exciting, it's going to be my first show!
