Dropped Tail! Need help.

One of my leos dropped her tail and I need to know how to take care of it. I cleaned and dissenfected everything in her tank and made sure she had fresh clean water and food. I put clean paper towels in her wet hide. Do I need to add any kind of antibiotics to her tail? Vasoline?

Any help would be appreciated.

DON'T PUT ANY MEDS ON JUST YET! You could loose your leo due to grug over dose.

Feed it as much as you can. Keep the tank moist. Even the paper towels out of the humid hide. ASso warm. Treat her liek a baby.

If you have any sand in the cage either remove it, or put her in another cage until it heals.

Thanks guys. I haven't put any med on her, I was just wondering. There is no sand, so I will also moisten her paper in the tank.

I hate to say this, but I really dont agree with what was said. I would keep her in a clean enclosure w/ paper towels, normal temps, NOT moist. And use a bit of neosporin type ointment WITHOUT pain relief. Works wonders. She'll be fine.

The previous comment regarding keeping her warm and moist leaves her open to possible infection.

to me keeping a cage too wet is just asking for a bacterial infection. Think about it: warm, wet space, ideal for growth. I would keep the paper towels that aren't in the humid hide dry, and possibly even add neosporin to the tail depending on how it looks. You could overdose on meds but a little neosporin to prevent infection won't kill your leo lol. i use neopsporin all of the time for wounds that could possibly get infected with no harmful results. Just don't feed the stuff to your gecko or apply it a million times a day

Chris is right about this, I had a male bite the end o one of my girls tails, called the vet and they said to keep her at normal temps, keep the cage dry and use bag balm.

Chris is dead on right. A dab of Neosporin (without pain reliever) is very much needed. I do not understand why you would even think about not putting it on.
