Computer problems...OK, clumsy problems.

Well, I dumped a drink on my laptop. Now, when you go to press a key on the keypad you get three or four that come up. I can't even log into the thing with the correct password. I dragged out my kids old computer for now. The thing is old. I'm wondering if I can get a external keyboard to hook up to it to at least get it open. If it will even recognize the keyboard at start up? None of the keyboards I have around work with the ports. Dang, I can't hook up anything to this dinosaur I'm on.

remove the keys and clean them. if liek mine there is also a rubber piece under the keys so remove and clean it and under it also. sounds like they are just sticky. i have spilled soda in mine a few times and a good cleaning of the keys and stuff usually work.

Does it have a USB port? An external USB keyboard might work if it does.

Good luck!

Rich is right. USB port and you should be fine. It will pick it up just like if you hook a mouse up to it.

yup.. usb cabled keyboard should kick in without any problems. removing and cleaning the keys on the laptop is what you will probably have to do if you want to use the laptop keyboard again. I like using q-tips dipped in rubbing alcohol.. it does a good job of loosening up sticky stuff and dries fast and no oily residue like you get with goo-gone and such cleaners.
