Angry Clueless

I have a 2' ball python and she is named flame. She is the most sweetest snake in the world. She will even kiss you.But something terrible happend we baught a rat so she could eat it.Usally when we put the rat in there she snatches it right away but this time she just let it sit in there. That night we went to our grandmas house so we had to leave. We were coming back the next day.We plugged ot her heat pad because the rat chews on the chord we thought flame would eat the rat but somthing else happend.Flam got so cold she couldnt move so she couldnt help but being bitten. So sadly when we came home She had big holes on the spine you could see her ribs and everything we thought she would die but she is still alive. She is a strong lil pecker. She hasnt eaten in 7 months but We tried to feed her but she wont take it. She is having huge problems shedding. She skips sheds. She is doing better but she still has holes in her what should i do?I put neosporn on it it helped a lil bit but she still has holes what should i do?

I'm sorry if I offend you, but you better have a darn good reason why you haven't taken her to a vet. Obviously, you are neglecting the poor snake and is probably underweight as well considering she has not fed in 7 months. And to say you left the feeder rodent in there with your Ball, no heat source, and no supervision is just asking for trouble.

I'm sorry, but we are unable to help. Most folks here probably feel the same, if not more upset, about your care or lack thereof. The only thing I can suggest at this time, considering you probably don't know a thing about the proper care of Ball Pythons is take her to a vet, or give her to someone who can properly take care of it.

Unhappy Pete?

You are right pete. BUt it was my first snake and i would of thought that she would eat it we fed her today she is doing alot better now she is a strong lil pecker. I treat snakes like babys i would never do anything to hurt my baby ball. I am not offended. But i am happy she is doing well. We could not find a vet to take it to . we are still looking for a vet we hope to find one soon.Oh and I know alot about ball pythons as a matter of a fact. There is nobody that is good enough to handle snakes like me. A snake expert told me to put neosporn on the wounds and i did and shes feeling good. so booyah hope YOU dont feel offended

Well just out of curiosity what made you leave a live rat in with your snake, reguardless if she eats it instantly every other time or not????? And I read another post from you why "IF you know so much about ball pythons" (your words not mine) do you need to ask someones opinion on which is a better heat source for your new BP?? And possibly to help with the sheding prob you can try to get the humidity up a little not much though.

That is unfortunate. Never leave a rat in with your ball python unless it is pre-killed or frozen/thawed. I'm sure you meant well but rats can be very aggressive. They will definitely fight if they feel threatened.

I once witnessed a rat kill a rattlesnake.

I give my ball pythons about 10 minutes or so before I remove the rat. If my snakes are hungry they will eat within that timeframe. Again, this is what works best for me.

Besides providing the proper temps, make sure that you give your ball python a hide box. That can make a big difference with your snake's feeding response. Also, keep in mind as winter kicks in, your snake may go off feed for a while so don't be alarmed.

Thumbs down poor snake

I think you are an ignorant fool and should not be allowed to own a snake. You needed to have a vet before you got the pet! I believe the best solution for you is to give your poor animal to someone who really does care and really does know how to take care of them! NOW !

and then your second post says you got another one!! You obviously are going to try breeding them and I hope for the sake of the snake kingdom that you female dies or lays slugs! Not that you seem capable of what it takes to breed them properly...

Oh, by the way, I hope you are not offended...
