So if a caresheet is published as being copyrighted, is it actually the information that is protected or is it the wording, as used by the author, that is actually copyrighted?
I would think the wording. If it was the information, then any author of a reptile book, where some of the care information probably matches would be eligable to sue.

Its one thing to publish similar information VS publishing the same exact information word for word. These are also the same people who decide that when they find a website layout they like, That they also have the right to copy that and use it.

I can understand why the care sheets writers are angry about what happened. All it takes is one individual to goto that forum, to think "hey its a public forum that information isnt copyrighted and i can use it" Then you find it on another forum/website, Only this time its edited a little. This person seen that childrens playsand and thought "hey, ill delete this and suggest calcisand. I never liked playsand anyways". Then someone goes to that site and copies that and makes another minor edit.... you get the point.

Heck even certain sites that sell reptiles get bonus traffic from people looking for caresheets. I know of several sites offhand that have the best caresheets on the net and also sell animals. SO just the act of copying that caresheet takes away from traffic to that site and possible sales it could have had.

I honestly cannot wait till someone copies a reptile carebook, thinking its ok to do that. Since those are copyrighted and more easier to prove it was copied VS which site published what information when. Its just a matter of time.......
