Can I feed my plants ants?

Hello,

I'm new. I got 4 venus fly traps, 1 sundue and 20 baby fly traps ( I grew them from seeds).

I also have 40 other seeds planted.

All my plants are growing very good.

Can I feed my little pets small and large black ants that I find outside?

Are flies better than ants for my little pets?

You may want to tenderize them a little so they don't hurt your plants. I know that the black ants can pinch pretty good and could possible cause injury to your plant.

<-- Like that. You don't have to kill them but just stun them a little.

Then you should be okay. If you try crickets you'll have to do the same thing. I had a few of mine pruned by crickets before.

what is best for my plants?

ants, flies or crickets?

I want them to grow BIG and STRONG!!

All 3 are a good source of nutrition for your plants. Flys pose no harm to the plants but as stated by others, crickets and ants can be quite harmful. I feed mine big black army ants that I find on my porch. You have to stun them first by flicking them HARD or by running them under HOT water. The hot water method seems to work best. It almost kills them but not close enough to stop them from curling up a bit and flailing around. Crickets are pretty harmless after the hot water method too.

Just so you know, when feeding crickets it does take much longer for the plant to break the cricket down and digest it. I have even seen cricket body shells leftover when the trap opens back up.
