Where can I find a baby ackie?!

Can someone point me to an established breeder of Ackies (red or yellow, either is fine)? Preferably with available babies or at least incubating eggs? I can find no one with a website up aside from pro-exotics (who isn't currently breeding them)! I mostly see adults in the classifieds on websites... Why doesn't ANYONE have any babies???

How long do you think they will be available?

I am not advertising them on the internet, and the first show we will take them to is July 30. 3 of them are sold so we have 6 for sale. ot sure how long we will have them.

Another quick question... Everywhere I look I see dimensions of enclosures that are proper for an adult pair or trio of ackies (usually 4'X2'X2'), but how big should I have for a single adult? Also, what is an appropriate home for a baby, and how long should it remain in its "baby home"?

You can put a baby in a 20 long and that will suffice for quite a while. I think the 4 x 2 x 2 size is about right for one or two. I would perhaps go larger for a trio.

Like a beardy

It is important that their cage offers them the ability to thermoregulate their body temps, very difficult in a small cage. A minimum size would be 20gal. for that reason. 100-110 under the basking light, about 85 on the cool end.

I thought they were supposed to have a hotter basking spot around 130*F? Is that wrong? It is just what I've read on other sites, so it might not be accurate... I agree with you about the thermoregulating their body temps because I raise BDs and you encounter the same problems with them when you put a baby in a smaller tank, even though they have room, it is hard to have a hot and cold side, so I see where you are coming from.

130 may be fine,

but I do not keep ours that hot. We have had our breeders going on 4yrs and they are doing well with the hotspot around 105, but we only got 1 clutch this yr. (from 1.2) so maybe a hotter basking spot would work better??
