Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Alife Thermostat
I Need a cheep thermostat that will only be in use for a few weeks. I have read that Alife Thermostats suck but only after long term use (a few months). I have a gravid girl who is due to lay when I'm on vacation (go figure) so I will only be using the thermostat untill I get home and can put the eggs in an incubator. Just need reassurance that it will work for the weeks I'm gone. I'm using a rheostat at the moment and I REFUSE to use that piece of junk. If you could refer me to another inexpensive thermostat that wouldnt malfunction that would be great. Any opinions or info would help, thanks, Cody Mathers

FWIW, I've been using the Alife thermostats (and the ESU equivalents) for my BP racks for over a year (a couple close to two years) and haven't had a failure yet (knock on wood). I check them on a regular basis to make sure they are regulating temps properly, with nary a problem. Of course, any mechanical relay can fail, so I cannot guarantee that it won't happen, but I don't think these thermostats are particularly prone to failure.
Just my 2 cents.

Just thought I'd chime in, I've been using my Alife for almost 3 years now. I've hatched ball python eggs with it perfectly and now use it to regulate my racks. Works perfect! I bought a 2nd one for my new incubator and it has been running for months just fine in preparation for eggs. I think they are great little thermostats for the price. Just check yours to make sure it is working properly (which you should do with ALL equipment of course!) Good luck!

I know I am late, but I thought I'd chime in here as well.
I have been using the Alife thermostats since I got my first hatchling rack in 2007, and I use the same thing for my stackable cages. So far, so good--no isssues out of any of them. I can honestly say I've heard horror stories about Alife, and I've heard horror stories about Helix . . . it doesn't seem to matter how much you shell out for them, you are still at the mercy of malfunction. Any piece of equipment can fail, but so far the track record for Alife (at least as far as I'm concerned) has been good.
Hope my $0.02 helps!

I'm even later than the last guy but I've been using the same ones for over 10 years moving them from racks to cages and back to racks, changing temps and everything and haven't had a single problem..

I have also used Alife for years with no problems. I also have used Helix,Ranco, and Johnsons with no problems as well. I think you will see a failure with any of them if you overload them. Just running a couple pieces of flex watt will be fine.
