I am no expert, but the fluids appear to be stomach bile (or whatever Ts have).
I see what may be an injury on the thorax, but it could just be the fluid staining the hairs.

At the angle the picture was taken, it is difficult to tell if it is a hole, cricket bite or wet.
A new picture, taken at an angle that shows the "hole" directly on, would be good.

Chris, you said there is a video. Does it capture locomotion of what you are labeling as a nematode?

Do you own a stereoscope or microscope with which you might be able to get a magnified photo of one of the organisms you are seeing on a slide? I do not expect you to, but it would be a huge help if so. Maybe just a clear photo taken through a magnifying class with a steady hand would be enough.

In terms of what I can see from the photos supplied, I cannot say whether what I am seeing is a wisp of congealed fluid off to the side (which is what it looks like to me) or a parasite.

On the right side of the animal's sternum, there appear to be spots where the setae are wet from fluid. On the animal's left side, it does appear that there is one section of exoskeleton damage (the darker spot). I obviously cannot say what drove that damage. Could be any number of reasons.

As of now, there are not enough meaningful data supplied in order for me to draw a meaningful conclusion outside of what can be directly observed (and I mentioned these observations above).

So it appears that you purchased a bunch of inexpensive slings and one more expensive T. It was the expensive one you are claiming DOA.

Bruce, could you please take pictures of the klaasi brother and sister and post them to show their condition? If they are fat sassy and active, I'd be puzzled as to how their sibling could be overcome with parasites during a short $90 ride.
