Depending, some could perish. However, it is possible for hatchlings to survive without absorbing the entire yolk.
As you appear to know, it is best that they do absorb the entire yolk, and leave the egg on their own, for a much better survival rate.
Do the babies have any umbilical cords still attached? If so, place those babies on damp paper towels, make sure it stays clean, and the umbilical should fall off within days or up to a week. Then, just keep an eye on its belly to make sure it is closing up and looking good.
Hope your employee knows better, to not do that, now.
