Question need help on feeder toads...

um,i might sound kinda ignorant, but what do feeder toads look like?how big are they?how much do they cost?i was thinking that since i wanted a toad, but most are atleast $5.00,i should get a feeder toad.since they are cheaper[right?]if by accident my dog got to it,the toad wouldnt be missed.if someone could show me a few pics they would be greatly appreciated.if the stuff i wrote has alot of typos then it shows my great lack of sleep.

catch em

go catch one if you want a cheap toad. go out at night to a place(like a school with grass/bushes around it) that is well lit and usually you see them around on the ground looking for bugs. American toads are my favorite common toad, they look just like your typical toad and can get 4 1/2" or longer if its a female. You might not be able to find them for very long if you live in the northern areas of the US because winter is coming.

Put it in asmall aquarium. Put a light on top pointed at one end and make sure it doesnt reach more than 87degrees at the hot end. They need a water bowl to soak in and something to hide under. I use moss to cover the bottom, as it looks natural and keeps the humidity up. You should probably mist the cage once a day.

** Don't let it near your dog, as it would be unfortunate for the toad, and your dog would get sick and possibly die**

BTW - Treefrogs are great animals to watch at night, i have some for sale in the amphibian classified section on this site. You can see pics of the grey tree frog here, along with some info - http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.ed...ersicolor.html
