Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Aaa Reptile Supply.com =bad
This is a letter I sent them in early this month, with no responce.
I purchased an albino boa from these guys and the thing was the result of some very close bloodline breeding.
These guys have good prices on there albinos but they are very bad quality, I would not recommend these people at all.
Hope this helps future snake buyers!
Here is a copy of the letter I sent them:
This is in regards to : A-ABOA33 Baby albino Colombian
boa female #33
order # 2901 purchased on 1/3/2005 and received on
2/3/2005
This is just to inform you on the issues of that
snake. After receiving this snake she was placed in
Quarantine for 4 weeks, she seamed a little slower
than the others at this age, and not as active.
She ate every week, pooped normal, and shed OK.
After quarantine I began to notice that this snake had
very thin skin, one eye was a little different than
the other, and still she was a little slow and weak.
I then took her to the local snake Vet. and they said
see is the product of the same blood line, closely
related breeding. The Vet. than said that she will
deteriorate with age.
At this time the snake will not move in the cage, she
stays coiled up in a corner. Only goes to the
bathroom when placed in the tub. And when held is very
limp and weak.
The Vet. says she will not last too much longer.
This letter is to let you know of the issues with the
location of were you get your snakes. I am not the
only one who bought from this litter. This close of
bloodline inbreeding is wrong.
This letter and the response will be posted on
Fauna
herptrader
boaconstictor.com and net
redtailboa.net
redtailboas.com
kingsnake
and any other sites that I belong too.
Thanks, and I hope to get a response soon

I have never bought critters from them but I have bought supplies.....once. It was a nightmare. A joke. I would definately stay away from AAA Reptile Supply. AAA may advertise some decent prices but in the long run you will be much better off spending a few extra dollars with more reputable people.

There is a registry "color morph and pattern registry" that purports to want to be what the AKC is for dogs. In my personal opinion, I think it is a farce and has absolutely zero credibility (look up the fire and ice bearded dragon thread if you want some insight into why that is my opinion). Here are a few quotes from the site, with bold my emphasize.
Quote:
The CMPR is a central registry for high-quality reptiles, similar to the American Kennel Club, Inc. for dogs...................
|
Quote:
By registering with the CMPR, hobbyists, collectors and breeders are able to:
Obtain transferable registration papers and pedigrees (as they are available);
Identify recognized CMPR registered color morphs, patterns and locations of origin (in the case of chameleons);
Identify suitable bloodlines to minimize chances of accidental inbreeding.
|
Quote:
Responsible Breeding - Reptiles that do not meet the standards or those with listed "faults" can be improved upon through responsible breeding or eliminated from the breeding program
|
Anyway, a Darby from AAA reptile supply is listed as the member of the advisory panel of that registry, who's specialty/catagory is Colubrids, Boas, and Pythons.
So I wonder if your boa, and that line is registered with this organization, if so it would seem it may need to be "eliminated from the breeding program" as stated above.
That they are on the advisory panel for this "sham" registry is one of the reasons I would not purchase from them.
Sorry for your sick animal, let us know how it does.

Rod,
In the link below you will find a discussion in depth on the topic.
http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...hlight=toll%2A
We are probably just starting to scratch the tip of the iceberg. Inbreeding in albino boas is a bigger problem than most people think. For one animal born with apparent eye defects there are likely dozens that carry the genetic trait. The more we create awareness of the problem among the public, the greater the chances of being able to do something about it. The root of the problem is still with the breeders and brokers that want a quick turn around of their money while failing to see the harm they do to the captive bred population of boas and to their own business.

Here is where buying relatively inexpensive animals turns into a costly mistake. As Evan Stahl stated in another thread “Low price = high risk”. In the past I have been tempted more than once to buy albino boas from AAA. After hearing your experience with them I highly doubt it will ever materialize.
You did the right thing with the quarantine of the boa. Although in the future you may want to conduct a more thorough inspection of the animals upon arrival. Although I highly doubt there is one company that will guarantee an animal after one month, selling you a defective boa is a completely different story. They should assume a certain degree of responsibility. If I were you I would send them an e-mail with a link to this thread.
Good luck!

repy from aaa reptile supply
THIS IS THE REPLY I GOT FROM THEM:
"To whom it may concern,
I apolologize for your dissatisfaction, I have contacted the breeder.
He
wants a copy of your vet report. Then he would like the boa returned to
him thru me so he can get a second opinion. All his boas are unrelated
&
I stand behind his belief. The fact remains that you are unsatisfied &
AAA Reptile needs to do something to rectify the problem. I am doing my
best in your interest. We need to go thru this problem by the numbers.
I
will say that AAA Reptile will make this up to you even if the breeder
does not help us out. I sold these boas for a friend , I did not make
one cent off the transaction. This is very awkward for me because of
this fact. I hope you understand this point. Regardless AAA will make
it
right even if the breeder does not rectify this with us. Again, I
hope
you understand the position AAA Reptile is in & the lenths we are
perpared to go thru to make this right.
Thank you,
Darby Cunningham

I SENT THEM MY VET REPORT OVER A WEEK AGO, no word from them again.

Best Send Them The Animal Too!
Before the animal passes you should make arrangements to send it back to them immediately. Write them so there's a written history as well as call and make notes as you go. Once it's gone they might give you a credit or who knows? Return it to them and they can nurse it along. You shouldn't take a hit on a substandard non healthy animal. I hope you are able to resolve the issue amicably. Good luck.

Greg makes a good point. You already have in writing their commitment to work with you on this issue, and maybe it’s time now for a follow-up phone call. Don’t expect them to do something about it until you ship back the boa.
Good luck!
