Hi Everyone,

I'm just wondering if there is ANY way to openly ship snakes and not have to hide anything...

Also just to clear things up... spam_USPS does allow the shipment on non-snake herps right? spam_They gave me some trouble yesterday.

I know UPS allows you to have an account that allows reptile shipments... spam_I called them and they told me the only way I could ship live animals is by getting a daily pickup account. spam_Is there any other account where I don't have to pay the weekly fees???

Thanks to everyone in advance... spam_I really appreciate your time!

I just went through this very thing. I was shipping a snake (eww, a snake&#33 for the first time. I checked with UPS and FedEx and both said they do not ship live animals. The USPS told me they do ship live, coldblooded animals (no turtles or turtle eggs and NO SNAKES&#33. I calmly labled my snakes LIZARDS and tolk them to the post office. Without batting an eye, the man behind the counter stamped the package and sent it on its way. My buyer paniced when he heard the news of how I sent it. It is due to arrive tomorrow - we will see.

Admitting to at least two criminal acts on a public forum isn't exactly the smartest thing in the world.

Your buyer's concern is warranted... I wouldn't want to be party to violations of Federal statutes either.

Yup
violation of federal statutes
Delta dash takes snakes
UPS does also but.. on an acception only basis ,it all depends on where you live and whether they will accept it, also the UPS hub where your snakes or live harmless reptiles will arrive has to accept it also otherwise your animals could come back with some penalties....dead animals and quite possibly a hefty fine

I was just wondering have the rules changed in past couple of years? I received A Boa from Colorado Reptile Rescue (Ann- Elizabeth Nash) by US Mail probably at least 2 years ago. I had to go get the package at the post office(large box) and it had a large pictue of a Boa on the package saying: Hi, my name is Claude, I am a Live Boa,Please Handle With Care(not exact Quote but you get the idea don't You?) spam_The only thing said at the post office was could they take a look at the snake(not a close look but a look) The Postmaster general was even there and no one said this shipment was in any way illegal. The director of the rescue center said it was perfectly legal to ship snakes thru the US post office. So I was wondering if the laws have changed or if it has always been illegal?

It's always been illegal. Some postal employees aren't too familiar with what items can and can't be mailed, though.
