Picky Eaters

Anybody got a multi-legged picky eater? (Yea, it's quiet in here and I got it in my head to try to liven things up )

My B. boehmei, from 3/4" to around 3" wouldn't eat anything live. It didn't matter what size the food was, or what kind, if it moved she would run up the side of her enclosure in terror. I tried removing the crickets jumping legs, didn't work. I tried stunning the prey, but the second it twitched she was running in terror. I tried leaving a legless cricket in overnight and found her hanging from the lid the next morning. When she got to 3" I had to play tough. I refused to prekill anymore, and would put small, live crickets in her enclosure every feeding (but not overnight, I didn't want to find her hanging from the lid agian.). For almost a month she wouldn't eat, but eventually she took down a tiny cricket. She's now 3 1/2", and it's funny watching her tackle tiny crickets, she will still run in terror from anything too big.

Yup
oddly enough my A minitrax will only eat every now and the and only eat a small meal worm. It is a year old and only 2" ....I thought it was a slow growing avic but that is not the case as it's sibling is almost 3.5" and a female.
the slow grower is a male.
Also have a Homeomma sp 'blue' that eats only Beetles.

Maybe your little male is trying to "save himself" for your female.

My boyfriend's year old versicolor is the same way. It will only eat a small cricket or mealie once or twice a month. I've got rosie slings that are growing faster than that versi.

One thing I have found is that house flies will almost make any problem arboreal spider feed, moths also do this
