New fire skink owner

Hi i just purchased a fire skink. He is a very pretty skink. But my question is are they known to bite often? Mine has tried to bite me a few times already im just wondering if they are or not i have done tons of research on them.

Well, most are wild caught. Is he LTC or fresh caught? How long have you had him? Yes, they will bite the fire out of you (pun intended. lol) if they are stressed and cranky. But they will mellow if you can get him acclimated and earn his trust.

I would let him be for now. Don't try to handle him. Let him adjust and try to earn his trust by offering him bugs from a pair of tongs. Before long, he will see you coming and come out for a handout. Here is one that was very nippy when I first got him, but in this pic, he was waiting for his bug.

I did just get him and im sure he is wild caught. I know to let him be for awhile. I was trying to get the crickets off of him and he tried to bite me when i put my hand by him. Im sure he will get used to me. Thank you for replying to my post.

YW. Does he have lots of hides and dirt to burrow in? When I kept them, I used organic top soil or garden soil. Of course, you want to make sure he doesn't have mites before you do soil.

I am sure he will warm up to you. You seem like a very good keeper.
