Please help ID a snake

I don't have any pictures but the snake that I saw was grass green like a Vine snake, or a Green snake but it distinctly had diamonds on it's back. I spotted it in Southern Ohio and I haven't been able to find anything about a snake like that. Parhaps it was someone's pet that got loose?
I didn't get to see the shape of the head because my dad drug me away as soon as I got to spot it. (He hates snakes. )
Anyway, any help would be appriciated. It's not really important but I was interested.
