Any ideas? Your input needed.

At the end of my first breeding season I had issues with temp fluctuations & lost 4 eggs (2 of which were Albino) out of a 6-egg clutch. On the up-side I got 2 fantastic looking Albinos, BUT I don't want this to happen again.

I've a Herpstat thermostat, Dion (the owner of Spyder Robotics), upon hearing I was having problems, has been extremely helpful in troubleshooting the issue. It appears (big sigh of relief) that it is NOT the Herpstat unit, however I'm still at a loss as to what caused the issue- the temp would drop overnight below 80f but would correct when set-temp button was pushed.

The other possibility is a heating unit issue, but now it appears to be working fine as well. I've since tried to recreate the error but can't recreate it. Any ideas what it could be? Thanks in advance for your input. -Deb

What type of incubator are you using?

try changing only one thing at a time. first change the stat and test everything for a few days. if the problem is still there, change the heat source next. test again for a few days. can you describe how the bator is built/setup?

I'm using a Nature's Spirit incubator & the Herpstat (both purchased at the same time). I am not able to duplicate the original error- they are both working exactly as they should now. That's the confusing part. -Deb

i would change the stat and let it run. to troubleshoot you have to start somewhere.
