Catfish with RES?

I would like to put a small catfish with my 2 baby RES. I have a 10 gallon aquarium and a canister water filter. I would like to know if I could put a catfish with them and what living requirements they need.

Any fish you add to your tank will be fair game for your turtles. Fish is one of their favorite foods. If you want the catfish because you are having a problem keeping the tank clean. the best thing you can do is to get a bigger tank for your turtles. The general rule for keeping turtles is, 10 gallons of tank for every inch of turtle. You measure just the turtle shell. If your two turtles are 5 inches, you will need a 50 gallon tank for them.

Additionally, most catfish are capable of producing toxins. The amount and actual toxicity vary with species of course, but a dorsal ray through the top of the mouth wouldn't be very pleasant for a juvenile RES.

Do you have any more info on that? That's the most facinating thing I've read all day. I was trying to research which types of catfish were actually toxic but sort of came up blank.
