Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Tarantula Possibly Dying?
The other day I noticed my new tarantula would not move, and her legs were curled up close to her body. She was sitting on her bark like that. I gently pushed on the back of her abdomen but she kept her feet rooted in position and she wouldn't budge. Then suddenly she jerked spastically and fell off the bark onto the substrate. I tried touching her gently again, but it was the same thing. She wouldn't budge, legs tucked in. Then I watched her tumble over onto her back, so I left her there overnight thinking it was a molt. But I found her the next morning turned upright again, still not moving when I touched her. So I decided to make an ICU. I put the lid of the container in front of her and pushed her along trying to get her to walk onto it, then she suddenly and spastically ran onto it. So she's been in the ICU since this morning. I tried touching her again earlier to see if she would respond. She just stayed motionless while I held my finger against her abdomen for several seconds, then she jerked and lept backwards like she was going to attack. then settled back down. Her legs are still curling and they just don't look natural like the day I got her. Also she wouldn't eat anything I put in her tank. I've had her since last Thursday. When I first got her, she kept climbing the sides of her tank and I even found her crawling upside down on the wire mesh top. I saw her fall from almost near the lid the other day, making a thumping sound when she landed. I haven't noticed any blood coming from her though. Here are some pictures I have taken since yesterday and a pic from the day I got her for comparison.

I also noticed all these little white circles all over the walls of her tank- possibly from her climbing? They are hard and stuck-on. I tried scraping them off with my fingernail but they are really stuck on there

She is still in the ICU for tonight

To be honest, by the size of her abdomen she looks fine. Looks to me like she is trying to go into a molt. I would get her off of those bark shavings and get her on eco earth with higher humidity. Sometimes if the humidity is too low they can get stuck in molt. Just keep her hydrated. Also, giver her some space. Stress is never good.
The spots on the glass are usually just them leaving behind tarantula goo. But if she did fall, just be sure to make sure she isnt leaking fluids from anywhere.
Ill help all I can.

Okay, I'll go out and get some eco earth later. For now I put her back into her tank, but I couldn't get her to move so I just dragged the paper towel into the tank. So, her abdomen looks fine, but I was concerned about her legs curling under like that. Is it normal? http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/z...psncex9n6y.jpg
I have a humidifier in my room now, hopefully that helps if she's trying to molt
