Here is a nice pair of Stuart's milksnakes born on 9/16/16. Stuart's milksnake (Lampropeltis triangulum stuarti) - Cañas Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica from Zoo stock.
*****Dam: captive born @ LA Zoo in mid 1980's from parents collected in Cañas, Guanacaste Province, in northwestern Costa Rica.......
*****Sire: Roger Williams Park Zoo, Providence, RI (c/b in mid 90's) - related to the the parents from the Dam above). The pair was produced in August 2009 (original Dam was ancient and never produced again)
The beautiful Stuart’s milk snake -- a subspecies -- sports a black snout, with a narrow white V-shaped band.
The banding pattern is thought to play a role in camouflage, helping hide the snake from both predators and prey. As the animal moves along, its rapidly moving bands of color confuse the onlooker, making it difficult to determine where the snake starts and stops. (Their banding pattern also makes them easy to mistake for the venomous coral snakes.
Considered Rare in the hobby. Here is a great opportunity to get your hands on a fantastic locale.
