Forgot to comment on the reference above to Gustave. You can view the French film with subtitles in the form of the PBS Video's Capturing the Killer Croc.
Gustave was eventually captured, and, if memory serves me correctly, measured at around 18 feet in length.
To respond to the 30-foot length comment above, it is extemely unlikely -almost impossible - that such a size reptile exists today. But I wish it did.
