Valley Dragons
round one...

STRICTLY DATA, ROUND ONE:

These are statistics based on the information that we have gathered so far. Currently the data pool consists of questionnaires returned to us for only 40 dragons. We will update these statistics on the first of every month as we receive more data. Please help us by filling out a questionnaire and returning it to us via email. Thank you for your cooperation! Please be patient with us as we continue to work on our database!

Who Do We Buy From?

7.5% of us bought a dragon directly from a "top breeder". A top breeder is defined as a breeder who is well-known, has proven "staying power", and produces many dragons per year. Unfortunately it is very hard to track the exact number of animals bought indirectly from a top breeder, due to the fact that many larger breeders wholesale many animals yearly to pet stores. Of the dragons reported being bought from a top breeder, 100% of them were given proper husbandry while in the care of the breeder.

32.5% of us bought directly from a "hobby, or non-professional breeder". This breeders is defined as someone who is well-known by the public, but does not produce large numbers of animals per year. This breeder has a smaller operation overall, and less clout in the industry. Many "mom and pop" breeders fall under this category. But keep in mind, size does not always matter! Of the dragons reported being bought from a hobby breeder, 75% of the dragons were given proper husbandry while in the care of the breeder, while 25% were improperly kept.

17.5% of us bought from a "private breeder". This person is defined as someone who strictly breeds small numbers of animals, and does not push heavy advertising. This person generally remains out of the public view. Of the dragons reported being bought from a private breeder, 100% of the dragons were given proper husbandry while in the care of the breeder.

20% of us bought from a "pet store". A pet store includes any place where a variety of animals are sold. Of the dragons reported being bought from a pet store, 62.5% were given proper husbandry while in the care of the pet store, while 37.5% were improperly kept.

7.5% of us obtained our dragons through a "rescue". A rescue is when a dragon is taken from a place where it has generally been mistreated. Of the dragons reported being obtained through a rescue, 100% were given improper husbandry while in the care of their previous owners.

15% of us purchased our dragons in the U.K. Self explanatory! Of the dragons reported being bought in the U.K., 66% were given proper husbandry while in the care of the breeder or pet store, while 34% were improperly kept.
