Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Hides
Now that my new rack system is here it looks like I am going to need to get new hides for several of my snakes. In the past I have used tera-cotta pots but they are too big to fit in the racks. Any suggestions on what/where I can get new hides? The ones I have seen at a few stores specifically for reptiles are at least $10 each and I can't see spending a couple hundered on hides. It doesn't have to be pretty, just functional, lol.

You may not need hides for BP's when using a rack.
Some BP's don't use them when in tubs. It depends on the snake but a good type of hide to use in a rack is corkbark. You can try Ebay or go online and do a search for corkbark.
BTW, the larger girl coming Tuesday doesn't use a hide in the tub so that's one less you need to buy.

Try cat litterbox pans with holes cut in the sides or in the top.

You can also go to the dollar store and pick up some of those plastic Dog bowls, and cut a hole in the side of them. I have one ball python that has one as his water dish, and he just uses that as his hide.... He has a rock dome hide, but refuses to use it! :P
There are lots of ideas out there, you just have to look around! Good Luck!

I love these (the smallest ones) in my 15 quart tub hatchling racks. Cheap, easy to clean and sterilize.
The smallest ones will hold a ball until they are around 600 to 800 grams.
The largest ones are good until about 2000 grams.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will just offer the younger ones hides in there for now and see if they use them before I go out and buy a bunch. I have enough small plastic containers for that at least
SPJ, i am so excited- I can't wait for Tuesday. Their homes are all set up and ready to go. Last new purchases for awhile though Having a car payment again SUCKS! I was really hoping to pick up a spider this year, who knows maybe commision this summer will rock and I will be able to swing it. If not, I am going to be living vicariously through everyone on here, lol!

I use the same hides as Sammy, and buy them from the same place. Most of mine use them, even in the racks...though I do have a couple that won't use a hide at all in the racks.
